Editorial policy

This page explains how we decide what goes on 5pound.co.uk, so you can judge for yourself whether to trust us.

What makes the cut

• £5 or less. Every deal costs £5 or under when we check it. We don't list "from £5" prices that only apply to the smallest size.
• Shops we'd use ourselves. UK shops, or shops that deliver to the UK, with a good track record for delivery and returns.
• Worth buying. We leave out things that are cheap because they're poor quality, and products that are likely to break or end up in the bin.
• Nothing unsuitable. We don't list vapes, tobacco, adult products, knives or anything aimed at getting round age checks.

Prices and savings

Prices come straight from the shops and are checked every morning. If a price rises above £5, or an item sells out, it's removed at the next check.

We only show a saving when the shop gives us a previous or recommended price, and we hide savings that look unrealistic. Prices can still change between our checks, so always check the price in your basket before you pay.

Commission never decides what we list

Some shops pay us a small commission when you buy through our links. We choose deals first and look at commission second. Some of the deals on this site earn us nothing. No shop can pay to be included in a gift guide or to change what we say about a product. More on how we make money.

Gift guides

Our gift guides are written and checked by people on our team. Where we've bought and tried something ourselves, we'll say so.

Mistakes

If you spot a wrong price, a broken link or a deal that isn't what it says, please tell us. We fix errors as quickly as we can.
